Sometimes our wardrobe needs a little help. Whether it’s deodorant stains, uncomfortable shoes, or too tight pants there are dozens of handy little gadgets that can help with all of these things – plus way more!
So before you get dressed again, check out the items below that will make your clothes last longer, feel more comfortable, and look much better – all while saving you from embarrassing wardrobe malfunctions.
Deodorant stain removers
Even deodorants that claim to be “streak-free” can leave us with white marks on our favorite tops. This can be especially troublesome when trying on items at a clothing store and suddenly realizing you’ve left stains on them all. If this is the case, make sure you keep a deodorant sponge on hand. That way you can easily remove these glaringly obvious marks before someone sees them.
Stomach flattening belts
If you suffer from “belt buckle bulge”, try using a belt that is specifically designed to lay flat against your body. These types of belts eliminate the annoying bump you can get from belt buckles, making your stomach look smoother and flatter. They also come in all sorts of colors and styles and are very reasonably priced.
A good way to protect your shoes (and your floors) is to use shoe covers. These are perfect for when your shoes might be dirty but you can’t take them off. Another good way to use these is when testing out a new pair of shoes. Once they are on, you can test your shoes both inside and outside without worrying about getting them dirty (which would mean you couldn’t return them).
Fashion tape is fantastic for making your clothing stay put. And you won’t believe how many things you can do with it once you start experimenting. One of its most popular uses is to prevent low-cut dresses or tops from moving out of place. While others use it to prevent their sleeves from sliding off their shoulders.
Bracelet tools can be a huge help if you need to put a bracelet on and don’t have another pair of hands nearby. In fact, many of us skip wearing bracelets because we don’t have time to fiddle with them while getting dressed. But luckily, this tool will help get your bracelets on quickly and easily once you get the hang of it.
Clothing extenders can lengthen tops, dresses, and other garments that are too short. Shirt extenders are perfect, for example, if you want a little more length to cover your bum. And the best thing about them is that they can easily be worn under clothes and come in several different colors and styles (including some lace options).
Spray wrinkle releaser
Spray wrinkle releaser is helpful for those who don’t have time to iron or steam their clothes. Just a few sprays and wrinkles come right out. Perfect for when you’re short on time. Plus, you have the option of purchasing a ready-made version or creating your own by following easy online recipes.
Some days it’s nice to go braless. But having your nipples poking out from under your top can bring unwanted attention. This is where nipple covers come in. Nipple covers, also called pasties come in both reusable and disposable varieties and will eliminate the nipple outline that can occur with certain tops or when it gets a little too chilly.
Clip on camisoles
Some days, we end up showing a little more cleavage than we wanted to. This is when clip-on camisoles can be a godsend. They easily clip on right under your top and can quickly make a revealing outfit much more appropriate for daytime or work environments.
A sweater shaver can make an old piece of clothing look brand new again in just a few minutes. It does so by removing the piles and fuzz that can make your clothes look dingy and worn. Plus, it can be used on multiple fabrics and clothing items, not just sweaters.
Magnetic clasps make it much easier to put your jewelry on in the morning. With necklaces, they can replace the tiny clasps that sometimes take forever to fasten. And with bracelets, they can be helpful for pieces that are impossible to put on with just two hands (like styles that sit tightly around the wrist).
Many women’s shoes are also designed to be torture devices that squish our feet in all sorts of weird spots. To help with this problem, you can use a stretcher to widen the areas that rub uncomfortably against your feet. This can save your skin from being rubbed off which can be extremely painful.
Rain & Stain Protectant
Everyone should be using a stain/water protectant to prevent their items from being destroyed by water. Everything you own that is made of suede or leather should be treated including your coats, purses, and boots. You can even find special stain protectants just for sneakers (including those made of canvas) that will keep them looking brand new.
Many of us who wear glasses, know how challenging it is to wear a face mask. After just a few breaths our glasses tend to fog up like crazy. So not only is it harder to breathe but harder to see as well. Luckily, treating our glasses with anti-fog spray easily solves one of these problems.
Interior Purse Protector
To save the inside of your purse from getting dirty, try using a purse protector. This inexpensive product can keep all your items safe and organized while protecting the inside lining of your purse from makeup stains, dirt, and spills.
Exterior purse protector
An exterior purse protector can be anything you can put your purse inside to protect it. It can even be another purse! For example, try keeping a large nylon or corduroy bag in your car. So if it rains, you can slip your expensive purse right inside. Your purse will be protected from the rain and no one will realize you are carrying a bag inside another bag.
Instant stain removers
Instant stain removers are perfect for when you spill your coffee or breakfast all over yourself. This is especially true if you’re stuck at work or an important event with no change of clothes available. Plus, its small size makes it easy to stick into a purse or desk. And best of all, it will prevent those annoying stains from becoming permanent.
Boot straps for jeans
Boot straps are designed to keep your jeans tucked snugly inside your boots. This prevents your pants or jeans from bunching up (especially at the knees), giving you a slimmer appearance. These straps are particularly helpful for shorter women, whose jeans tend to ride up if they are too long for them.
Bra extenders are great for extending the size of your bra when it becomes too tight. The tightness you feel may occur gradually or come on suddenly and can be the result of swelling, weight gain, or even working out (among other things).
We’ve all had times in our lives when we’ve put on a few pounds. And trying to fit in our usual pants during this time can be a challenge (not to mention super depressing). Luckily, we can use a waist extender to give us a little extra breathing room when our pants get too snug, whether it be from weight gain or over-indulging at a family meal.
Skirt weights are designed to prevent those windy Marilyn Monroe moments where everyone can see your underwear. Most are applied using an adhesive that sticks to the inside of your dress, blouse, or whatever garment you don’t want to fly away.
